Project Overview
Work is underway on a new 25-hectare solar farm in South Kent, a major renewable energy project that will generate clean power for more than 7,500 homes. Once operational, the scheme is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by around 10,000 tonnes per year over its 40-year lifespan.
The project has been designed to deliver wider environmental benefits alongside energy generation. Proposals include a four-hectare native wildflower meadow, over 1km of new hedgerows, provision for sheep grazing, and extensive shrub and tree planting, ensuring long-term gains for biodiversity and land management.

The Challenge
As with many large-scale solar developments, early access and infrastructure were critical to unlocking the site. The project required carefully planned construction routes capable of supporting heavy vehicles and plant, while also accommodating DNO access requirements and cable crossings.
These works needed to be delivered at pace, without compromising safety, build quality, or the site’s long-term environmental objectives.
The Solution

This included the construction of internal site roads to support day-to-day construction activity, dedicated DNO access roads built to specification, and the installation of cable crossings to integrate seamlessly with the wider electrical infrastructure.
